Questions and Answers
  • What are the DRirc Network rules?

    1. No copyright violations
    2. No more than 3 simultaneous connections from one IP
    3. Friendly bots allowed, within reason.
    4. Never suggest that someone ignore what a doctor or other professional caregiver has instructed them to do. If someone is injured because of something they were told to do (or not do, as the case may be) in the DRirc, legal action may be taken against DR and its owners/operators, and we would probably be forced to take the site down. Please help keep us around and going strong!
    5. Remember that DRIRC is provided by kind individuals who have given their time and resources for your own enjoyment. As such, remember that being there is a privilege, not a right.
    6. Channel disputes stay in their respective channels. Channels all have their own owners, and each likely has their own set of rules that might differ from #dragons, #legends, or #geeks. If you break channel rules and are removed, take up your complaints with the channel owner, not the server admins. However, people found to cause trouble repeatedly in several channels may be subject to administrative action.
    7. DRIRC is primarily a PG-13 network. If you wish to set up a channel that is NOT PG-13, please talk to one of the admins for further information.
    8. Impersonating someone or using a false identity (intentionally making others believe you are someone else) may result in a network-wide ban (temporary or permanent) without warning. This includes, but is not limited to:
      1. Impersonating other members of Dragon Realms
      2. Impersonating people from other forums and websites
      3. 'Stealing' other members' nicknames through nickserv without permission, with or without registering it.
      4. Performing a /ghost on other members
    9. Using the Dragon Realms IRC network to maintain illegal activities and/or on purpose break Dutch laws may in severe cases result in a network-wide ban (temporary or permanent) without warning.

Abusing or not following these rules will lead to temporary bans from the entire network, and serious offenses may result in permanent bans.

  • What are the rules for the main channel?

    1. Keep bad language to a minimum
    2. Be considerate of others' beliefs and feelings - debating a point is good, but taking it too far and hurting people isn't. Remember that the channels are host to a diverse range of different age groups! If you think there's a chance something might not be suitable, take the time to find out for sure before saying it.
    3. It should become obvious when people are beginning to get unhappy with a conversation. If it does then perhaps it is time to consider dropping the topic, or taking it elsewhere.
    4. Keep RolePlay in #legends and tech stuff in #geeks, the subjects can distract from the channel and put some people off. Any topic that 'takes over' the main network channel and stops others talking should be wound down or moved to another place.
    5. Respect channel authority. People with a @ or a % before their nicknames are the channel moderators. If one of them asks you to stop something, please listen. If you disagree, feel free to send them a /query message and discuss things privately.
    6. If you have an issue with another IRC user, or a topic that's brought up, please don't hesitate to talk to one of the moderators. Even if they're not currently available (or you don't get a response) they'll still see the message. We want to keep the main channel a comfortable place for everyone, but we need your cooperation.
    7. Keep personal grudges out of the main channel. Everyone has the ability to be in the main channel, and not everybody is going to get along all of the time. Keep yourself civil with people you don't get along with, and take up your issues in private.
    8. Due to complaints from members, we had to change our policy on bots in the main channel. LogBots are allowed. However, 'active' bots (bots that message people, perform actions, or otherwise 'interact') are not allowed.
    9. No adult-rated discussions or links in the main channel, whatsoever.

Abusing these rules will result in a warning, then a 24 hour ban from the channel to let you cool down and think about matters more clearly. Further action will be taken against persistant offenders! The moderators (ChanOps) are chosen for their ability to clearly interpret these rules, and their decision isn't to be argued. If you feel a moderator is abusing their position, you should contact one of the Admins.
